Indications for Use
 
Pet Rabbits: Enrofloxacin is indicated for the treatment of infections affecting the digestive and respiratory tracts caused by enrofloxacin-susceptible strains of Escherichia coli, Pasteurella multocida, and Staphylococcus spp. Additionally, it is effective in treating skin and wound infections caused by enrofloxacin-susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus.
 
Rodents, Reptiles, and Ornamental Birds: Enrofloxacin is recommended for the treatment of infections affecting the digestive and respiratory tracts. Its use is based on clinical experience, and if possible, supported by susceptibility testing of the causative organism, indicating enrofloxacin as the preferred treatment.
 
Contraindications
 
The product is not intended for prophylaxis. It should not be used in cases of confirmed or suspected resistance to quinolones, as cross-resistance between enrofloxacin and other quinolones exists. Avoid use in animals with known hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones or any of the product's excipients. Animals that are epileptic or prone to seizures should not be treated with enrofloxacin due to potential CNS stimulation.
 
Special Precautions for Use
 
Official and local antimicrobial policies should be considered when using the product. Fluoroquinolones should be reserved for conditions that have responded poorly or are expected to respond poorly to other antimicrobials. Use based on susceptibility testing is recommended whenever possible to minimize cross-resistance and maintain treatment efficacy.
 
Special Precautions for the Person Administering the Product
 
Enrofloxacin may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. People with known hypersensitivity to (fluoro)quinolones should avoid contact with the product. The product's alkaline nature may lead to skin or eye irritation. Administrators should wear impermeable gloves, rinse any splashes immediately, wash hands and skin after use, and avoid smoking, eating, or drinking during handling.
 
Adverse Reactions
 
During rapid growth periods, enrofloxacin may impact articular cartilage. Caution should be exercised when using the product during pregnancy, lactation, or lay, with a careful risk/benefit assessment.
